Following an impressive 5-3 come from behind victory on Saturday night, the Penguins (15-7-3) will go for their third straight victory tonight against the Ottawa Senators (15-8-2) tonight at PPG Paints Arena. The Penguins have dominated the Senators as of late, going 6-0-2 in their last 8 contests. The Penguins will be riding their hot goalie as Marc-Andre Fleury will make his third consecutive start.
The Senators are actually good this year with a record of 15-8-2, which is good for second in the Atlantic Division. The Sens are led by forward Mike Hoffman who has 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists) and defenseman' Erik Karlsson (notice the word defenseman in quotes because Erik Karlsson really doesn't play defense), leads the team with 20 points (5 goals, 15 assists). In fact, Karlsson scored the game winning goal in the Senator's last game against the Florida Jagrs HC on Saturday night.
The Penguins are coming off two of their best games of the year (in terms of entertainment value that is). The Penguins beat the living hell out of the Dallas Stars on Thursday night 6-2 and followed that performance up by overcoming a 3-1 deficit on Saturday night to beat the Red Wings 3-1. Sidney Crosby is on another planet right now and is playing some unbelievable hockey. Crosby leads the Penguins with 26 points (16 goals, 10 assists) all while playing six less games than everyone else.
The Senators are 5-1-1 in their last seven games and figure to start former Penguin (lol) Mike Condon in net, who has stepped up big time since Craig Anderson took a leave of absence to be with his wife.
*NOTE* Drew sucks. Fleury is indeed starting and we obviously didn't plan on that. Either way, blame Drew because this is all his fault.
*Scouting the Refs sucks and didn't have them up. You'll live, as will we.*
No word on if Sen's owner Eugene Melnyk concluded his 'investigation' in to Matt Cooke's clean slew-foot on Erik Karlsson years ago.
Tonight apparently the Penguins will the eclipse 8 million mark in attendance over their last 444 straight sellouts. That sounds good.
Never forget when the Pens had the 'X Generation' and 8 people went to the game in Mellon Arena years ago. Good times.
Erik Karlsson probably turned a puck over as we speak.
Please watch this.
Never forget when Matt Cullen scored a goal without recording a shot on Saturday night.
Unfortunately, Andrew McCutchen is still a Pirate, let's hope this changes soon.
Tonight we get to hear 'O Canada,' bless.
Chris Neil is a piss-baby.
Forward Daniel Sprong continues to work out in the mornings, so I guess that's an encouraging sign.
Look for Malkin, Hagelin, and Kessel tonight. God that could be fun to watch.
No idea what else to write tbh.
