On day where the Steelers were out worked harder than a stripper on amateur night at Blush, the Penguins delivered a 5-1 victory over the Boston Bruins.
During the first period, the Pens had many chances to capitalize on Bruin netminder Tuukka Rask, including a glorious one by Phil Kessel. While Kessel had an open net, his shot bounced off the top post.
Later on in the period, play would be ended due to a massive hole along the boards by the Pens bench, which was like the Steelers secondary last night. Play was pushed into the second period as the ice crew worked to repair the ice.
It look only 0:18 seconds into period two, for the Pens break through. Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust lead a on 2 on 1, where Sid dished a saucer pass past the human giraffe on skates, Zdeno Chara, to Rust for the goal. The Pens got another towards the halfway mark thanks to Conor Sheary. Sidney Crosby did only Sidney Crosby things in the Bruins zone by passing to Rust on his knees, where Rust shot the puck off the boards behind to the net to Sheary for the goal. On the play, Rask was injured, and inturn pulled himself shortly after.
As has been the case all season long, the Pens exploded for three goals in the third period from Patric Hornqvist, Conor Sheary, and Sidney Crosby. 5-1 victory.
