Tonight the Penguins (43-16-8) take on the red hot Calgary Flames (38-26-4) (that's an awful pun and I'm truly sorry I put you through that) at 9:00PM in what might be the longest two words to ever make up an arena name, the Scotiabank Saddledome. The Flames have won nine games in a row, while the Penguins look to go 4-0 on their Western Canada road trip and push their winning streak to five games.
The Penguins could also surpass the Washington Capitals, who are idle tonight for the top spot in the Metrosexual Division. The Capitals have looked awful lately, losing four in a row so you know the playoffs are on their way. Actually, I'm pretty sure Ovechkin hasn't scored a goal in his last ten games, so you know that's a problem.
The Penguins and Flames will play their second and final game of the regular season against each other tonight. The last time these two teams played, the Flames beat the Penguins back on February 7th by a score of 3-2, thanks to the lone goal in a shootout by Kris Versteeg.
Goaltender Brian Elliott is 8-0-0 in his last eight games and coming off back to back shutouts against the Montreal Canadiens and the Winnipeg Jets. Elliott is 12-1-1 in his last 14 games, and I am not an expert but that seems very good. The Penguins will start their 'backup' goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who is coming off two strong starts including making 40/42 saves in a 3-2 shootout win on Saturday. Fleury is 4-1-1 in his last six starts with a save percentage of .933%.
It's the Penguins 68th game, you know what that means....
Matt Cullen is a 'game time decision' for tonight, AKA he's playing.
Josh Archibald was recalled but I doubt he plays tonight.
Oskar Sundqvist is pretty good at hockey, look for him again tonight.
Two outstanding goalies between the pipes tonight.
Carl Hagelin is out four weeks with a lower body injury. God isn't real.
Malkin has 71 points, that's no coincidence.
Future Penguin Dougie Hamilton set a career high in points with 43 after recording three assists in the Flames win over the Winnipeg Jets.
No idea if Toby Enstrom knows where he's at yet, maybe he shouldn't have turned his head...
I don't know what else to write.
Never forget the Great Flood.
