Tonight the Pittsburgh Penguins (3-2-1) will square off against the (1-5) New York Rangers at 7:00PM from Madison Square Garden. It ain't no secret, the Rangers have been bad this year. The Rangers are riding a three game losing streak coming into this game and if notorious piss-baby / part-time goaltender Henrik Lundqvist plays, they might be staring at a fourth straight loss.
It's no secret that Henrik Lundqvist hasn't been good against the Penguins in almost two years, posting a record of 1-6-2 (counting playoffs) since flipping the net over and acting like a baby on March 3rd, 2016. Honestly, wouldn't be surprised if backup goaltender Ondrej Pavelec gets the start considering they need a win and with Lundqvist in net against the Penguins, that situation doesn't seem too likely.
Speaking of which, let's relive this beautiful moment. Ok, carry on.
The Penguins on the other hand, have an elite two-time Stanley Cup champion in net. Matt Murray should get the nod for the Penguins this evening. Speaking of streaks, the Penguins are looking to build one after coming off a 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers on Saturday. The only way the Penguins could possibly lose this game is if they start Antti Niemi in net, other than that, I am very confident in the abilities to succeed.
I personally thought the Rangers would be much better this season simply because they got rid of defenseman Dan Girardi, who in the grand scheme of things, was not good at the sport of hockey. I suddenly realized that Lundqvist is their goalie and Rick Nash might be their best forward so I quickly changed my mind.
Either way, tonight should be interesting only because it's been awhile since we've played the Rangers and I feel like chanting 'HENNNNNRIKKKKK' in my living room following a goal in a regular season game.
*Stripes will be updated closer to game time, even though in reality, they probably won't be*
