Tonight features one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the season and one some 'experts' believe might be a Stanley Cup Final preview. Connor McDavid, the league's third best player (behind Crosby and Jagr) and the Edmonton Oilers (2-5-0) come to town to take on Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins (5-3-1) from PPG Paints Arena tonight at 7:00PM
The Penguins are coming off an absolutely piss-poor performance in Tampa, losing Saturday night by a score of 7-1. It might actually be 8-1 as Antti Niemi just let in another goal. Speaking of which, the Penguins placed Niemi on waivers yesterday, which could mean the end of his Penguins career. Niemi currently has a save percentage of .797 to go with an 0-3 record this season AND a 7.49 goals against average. If you're new to hockey, that's really bad. Like really, really, bad. Luckily for the Penguins they have other options and have called up goaltender Casey DeSmith from the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. DeSmith, a lover of the show The Office, surely can't do any worse than Antti Niemi, right?
On a more positive note, Riley Sheahan will make his much awaited Penguins debut tonight. Sheahan, who was acquired on Saturday night right before puck drop for Scott Wilson and a 3rd round pick is expected to center Carl Hagelin and Patric Hornqvist on the third line. Per Penguins Head Coach Mike Sullivan, Sheahan is expected to see some time on the penalty kill as well. Though the Penguins will have two new guys with the team tomorrow, they lost a regular in center Carter Rowney. He left the game Saturday and was played on injured reserve with a hand injury.
Much like the Penguins so far this season, the Oilers have not been very good either. They're currently (2-5-0) and coming off a 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night. Connor McDavid is pretty good though. So far this season, McDavid has 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists) in seven games. Speaking of which, last Thursday Connor McDavid did this.

*Stripes will probably be updated closer to game time, even though they probably won't be.*
The last time the Penguins hosted the Oilers, Donald Trump was elected President that night. Woof.
Speaking of last season, the Penguins swept the Oilers in their season series.
In those two games, Connor McDavid recorded one goal and three assists while Sidney Crosby didn't do anything, recording zero points.
Antti Niemi just let up another goal.
Jesus, Sidney Crosby is 30 years old and Connor McDavid is only 20. Feel old yet?
Could Reaves vs Lucic be a thing? God I hate Milan Lucic.
If he fought Kassian that'd be cool too.
Connor McDavid will probably go off and record a hat trick with seven assists considering he's playing against Sidney Crosby.
Riley Sheahan will wear number 15 for the Penguins.
Casey DeSmith will wear #1.
DeSmith has played better than other WBS goalie Tristin Jarry, which is part of the reason why the Penguins chose to go with him.
The other reason is that the Penguins would like Jarry to start as many games as possible and to get as much work in net as possible.
Speaking of goalies, expect Cam Talbot vs Matt Murray tonight.
Matt Hunwick has been out with a concussion but Mike Sullivan said he is making progress, so that's good.
Crosby vs McDavid so far this year:
Crosby - 5 goals, 5 assists
McDavid - 3 goals, 5 assists
Antti Niemi just let up another one.
