The Penguins (7-4-1) will play game two of their five game road trip tonight in Winnipeg against the Jets (4-3-2) with puck drop set for just after 7:00PM. This will be the Penguins second game against the Jets in less than a week, and it will be their final time playing the Jets this season. If you recall, on Thursday the Penguins beat the Jets by a score of 2-1, thanks to Phil Kessel's overtime winner.
Sunday night games suck. I'm already tired and this game hasn't even started. Last night the Penguins lost to the Minnesota Wild by a score of 2-1. It was pretty much a battle of the goaltenders between Matt Murray and Devan Dubnyk. Both goalies looked pretty good from what I saw of the game. I'm going to be honest, I didn't care to watch much of the Penguin game last night. Between Penn State losing and everyone being mad on the internet, and the World Series practically right after that game, it was difficult to squeeze an early regular season Penguin game into my interests of things I HAD to watch. Either way, the Penguins lost a regular season game and in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter too much.
The Jets followed up their 2-1 overtime loss to the Penguins on Thursday night by replicating the same score and result Friday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. CBJ beat the Jets by a score of 2-1 in overtime, thanks to Josh Anderson's OT goal. I'll be honest, the Jets aren't good but they're always fun to watch when they play the Penguins. Byfuglien hits people very hard, practically killing them, Wheeler and Malkin hate each other so that's always fun, Patrik Laine is pretty good at hockey and he knows it, and overall the games are just fun to watch.
**Scouting the Refs hasn't posted any ref assignments the past two nights, so if they don't care, I don't care.**
The Office enthusiast, goaltender Casey DeSmith, could see his first NHL start for the Penguins tonight.
Murray stopped 27 of 29 shots that he faced last night.
Since it's the second game of back-to-backs the Penguins did not hold a morning skate and Mike Sullivan will be addressing the media at 5PM today.
Speaking of back-to-backs, the Penguins are 0-3 in the second game of back-to-backs this season, thanks Niemi.
Don't expect Schultz or Hunwick back tonight
Expect Connor Hellebuyck in net for the Jets.
Ryan Reaves is from Winnipeg, so that's cool.
Remember when Michael Scott took a road trip to Winnipeg?
Per the Penguins website, the Penguins have a power play goal in all seven road games they've played in this season.
