The Capitals, with help from the officials, managed to even the series at one game a piece on Sunday with a 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Tonight, the Pens return home with hopes to take a two to one series lead. Puck drop is set for just after 7:30PM on NBCSN.
So yeah, last game where do we start? Do we start with the blatant elbow by degenerate piss-drinker Tom Wilson on Brian Dumoulin, the goaltender interference that lead to a Jakub Vrana Capitals goal, or do we start with the disallowed 'goal' by Patric Hornqvist that would put the Penguins within one goal and would have had the Capitals on the ropes? There's so many directions to take this gameday so I'll just say what's been echoed by many - best sport, worst league. The NHL is honestly garbage.
Let's start with the most infuriating moment of the game, the Tom Wilson headshot to Pens defenseman Brian Dumoulin.
Now, I don't claim to be an expert but that's absolutely a headshot. It's not like it was some random player either. It was Tom Wilson and Kris Letang put it best saying, "We all know what he is and what he does on the ice, we expect that from him." Apparently the Department of Player 'Safety' thought the hit was unavoidable and that Dumoulin stopped his progress to brace for the hit from the oncoming Ovechkin. LOL. Tom Wilson is honestly a scumbag. During Round One, he had a similar hit on Blue Jackets forward Alexander Wennberg that knocked him out of the game. Much like the hit on Dumoulin, Ovechkin was also involved. I wish I could care more, but since the league doesn't care, why the $%#! should I? I will say, one day Tom Wilson will get his and I want to be there for it. I would love to be on the ice cheering, but until then I can only hope and dream. Luckily, Dumoulin did return to practice yesterday sporting a non-contact jersey. I'm sure he'll be a game-time decision tonight.
The other controversial call occurred with 10:57 left in the third period when Patric Hornqvist thought he had scored a goal to put the Penguins within one. The NHL had other thoughts.
Don't believe me, just watch this video courtesy of SportsNet.
The call was ruled no goal on the ice, therefore Toronto and the 'Situation Room' or whatever the hell it's called needed conclusive evidence to overturn the call. Somehow those buffoons in Toronto didn't have access to this picture. OK? It also doesn't help that the on ice official that ruled no goal, Chris Rooney, was standing somewhere over in Africa listening to Africa by Toto.
Believe me, I'm never one to blame the stripes (oh wait, yes I am) but the last game was so poorly officiated. Just remember, the Penguins get all the calls, or so I was told.
Either way, it's playoff hockey and the Penguins need to win four games to advance. If the Penguins didn't suck in the opening minutes of games one and two, maybe they wouldn't need to play catch-up throughout the second and third period and hoping / needing calls to go their way. Just a thought though.
Hopefully anybody but that AIDS Virus, Chris Rooney.
Expect Evgeni Malkin to play tonight. I said that last game but for his sake, the Penguins sake, and most importantly, my sake, I hope to God he plays tonight.
Yesterday following practice, Head Coach Mike Sullivan said that Malkin, Hagelin, and Dumoulin would be game-time decisions.
At the very least, Hagelin said he expects to play in this series.
Please @God I hope Brian Dumoulin plays tonight. Aside from Dumo being the Penguins best / most consistent defenseman all year, that would mean Matt Hunwick would have to play hockey again. God help us all.
People wonder why Phil Kessel hasn't done much this round, do you think you'd be productive if you had to play with the human turnover machine Dominik Simon? I don't think I would.
Hopefully with Malkin's return Simon sits or gets sent to the sun. Either or are fine with me.
Daniel Sprong is a 'Black Ace.' If Malkin can't go (and I will be pissed) I would give Sprong a shot. He did take pregame warmups prior to Sunday's game.
Tom Wilson drinks piss.
Speaking of not agreeing with the call, our Twitter account @PensOfAnarchy was suspended for a week on Sunday. You can follow our temporary account, @PensOfAnarchy69.
Twitter sucks and if you reported us, so do you.
As mentioned above, if the Penguins could not suck for the first few minutes of the game that would be ideal.
Don't know if it's been said before but I'm pretty sure Tom Wilson is affiliated with ISIS.
Did you see Smith-Pelly with his unreal dive last game. I haven't seen a dive like that since JFK.
At least we get to hear Jimerson tonight.
