Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen! Game 14 will feature the defending Stanley Cup Champions, Washington Capitals, playing host to the Pittsburgh Penguins . The Penguins and Capitals are currently tied in the Eastern Conference with 15 points each, as both have a 6-4-3 record this season. This is the second matchup of the young season for these two clubs. Game one went to Pittsburgh in a defenseless game, as the score was 7-6 in overtime.
In the first matchup, Pittsburgh had 3 point games via Kris Letting and Evgeni Malkin. One can argue that both Matt Murray and Braden Holtby have not been themselves this season. Holtby has really struggled so far, as he is sporting a GAA well above 3.00 and a save percentage under .900.
In a few roster moves for Pittsburgh, Zach Aston-Reese and Garrett Wilson have been recalled from the AHL, while Derek Grant was sent packing to the minors. The lineup will be a game-time decision.
We're not putting the Penguins lines in here because there was no morning skate and everything is tbd, tbh.
Jamie Oleksiak will play in his 200th career game tonight.
Casey DeSmith confirmed to start.
Speaking of starting, don't expect Daniel Sprong tonight. Zach Aston-Reese, as mentioned above, will play.
The Penguins are 2 for the last 19 on the power play so Mike Sullivan redid the power play units.
Brooks Orpik is out for Washington again with a lower-body injury and will miss his 4th straight game.
Alex Ovechkin has 11 goals over his last 13 games. That's pretty good.
Scumbag and noted terrorist Tom Wilson is still out serving his suspension.
The Penguins are 0-3-1 in their last 4.
However, they are 4-0-2 on the road if that counts for anything.
This is game 1 of 4 in a 4 day stretch for the City of Pittsburgh.
Pens also play at home Saturday. Steelers are home Thursday night and Pitt at home Saturday afternoon.
If the Penguins lose, they should move the team to Zimbabwe.
