Game 7 of the Tanner Pearson era is upon us. The Penguins travel North of the Border to face the Jets of Winnipeg. The Penguins are back above .500 with their 9-8-5 record. They will likely be without forwards Derek Grant and Patric Hornqvist due to injuries. The Pens are coming off a nice 4-2 win over the Blue Jackets, who for some reason still hate Phil Kessel.
The Jets have gone 13-7-2 to start the season which is good for 28 points in their first 22 games. They have been one of the better home teams this season, with an 8-2-2 record so far. You know who else is good? Patrik Laine. He's coming off a five goal game against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. He's the first player to score five goals in a game since former Red Wing Johan Franzen did so way back in 2010-2011 season. Over the last four games, Patrik Laine has scored 11 goals. That essentially doubles the Penguins entire bottom six for the ENTIRE season. Good Lord.
Casey DeSmith in net tonight. 50-50 if we win.
Patrick Laine is v good at hockey.
He has 12 points over his last 5 games coming into tonight.
He currently leads the NHL in goals this season with 19.
Patric Hornqvist is still out with a concussion.
There is a Lemieux on Winnipeg and it makes me mad.
Former Penguin 1st rounder Joe Morrow is scheduled to be on the ice tonight.
Defenseman Kris Letang will play in his 704th career game tonight, moving into first place all-time for games played by a Penguins defenseman.
The Penguins still suck but have recorded points in four straight games (2-0-2).
Quick turnaround - they're in Colorado tomorrow for a second of a back-to-back.
TBT to when Michael Scott went to Winnipeg and met concierge Marie.
