The Penguins (12-10-6) have the misfortune of playing today's game in one of the most God forsaken arena's in the World, Nassau Coliseum. The Penguins, coming off an overtime loss in Ottawa on Sunday night take on an Islanders team (14-11-3) that they beat just four nights ago by the score of 6-2. The Penguins and Islanders have been playing leap frog in the standing recently with both teams fighting for the number three spot in the Metrosexual Division Standings. Prepare your buttholes to hear about how this shit arena the Penguins are playing in tonight has been renovated. We are sure Steve Mears will probably mention it at least 69.5 times tonight. This trash hole of an arena is the scene of one of the most infamous nights in Penguins history. Here is a refresher in case you forgot:
The best part about this whole video is Steigy losing his mind after Eric Tangradi got annihilated. If you're curious, we are 99.69% sure Trevor Gillies is still being employed by hockey teams in some random 3rd World Country.
In their last game out, the Penguins totally outplayed the Senators, but could only muster one goal from JS Dea who made his return to the Penguins after being claimed off waivers from the New Jersey Devils in a 2-1 losing effort. Word on the street is Evgeni Malkin showed up at the Coliseum yesterday because he likes being early for things. The Islanders last game was a 3-2 victory against the Detroit Red Wings. They got goals in that game from Casey Cizikas, Ryan Pulock, and Matt Martin, who you may recognize from the video above.
The Islanders may be without Anders Lee tonight who took a nasty shot to the head from Niklas Krownwall on Saturday night while the Penguins may get forward Patric Hornqvist back from an upper-body injury. Hornqvist missed Saturday's game in Ottawa but did partake in the morning skate.
Matt Cullen sucks, speaking of which he's due back soon.
Derek Grant sucks.
Garrett Wilson sucks.
Phil Kessel doesn't suck, he's currently riding an eight game point streak.
Nassau Coliseum still sucks.
DeSmith vs Lehner tonight in net.
Speaking of DeSmith, he's only lost once in regulation over his last eight games played. (5-1-2)
Hopefully Crosby makes the entire Islanders organization look like fools again tonight. He has a knack for that.
Speaking of which, he has 113 points in just 65 games played against the Islanders. That's absolutely insane.
The Islanders currently sit 1 point ahead of the Penguins in the Metro.
The annual Dad's Trip starts tonight - buckle up and brace yourself for hundred of videos, features, and something about Matt Murray.
This feels like the 54th time these two teams have played this season.
