After a pretty embarrassing performance against the Blackhawks last Wednesday, the Penguins (15-11-6) got two much needed victories over the weekend. A 5-3 win over the Bruins Friday and a 4-3 overtime win vs giant piss-baby Drew Doughty and the LA Kings on Saturday got the Penguins back into the playoff picture. Now they take on Daniel Sprong and Ducks (18-11-5) tonight at PPG Paints Arena. Puck drop is just after 7pm.
Since being traded away from the Penguins, who for whatever reason made his development into rocket science, Sprong is playing more minutes with significantly better linemates, has three goals, and also became Corey Schneider's Dad with one of the best shootout goals we've seen this year. It's like we knew what we were talking about this whole time.
We would say that what Sprong has done for Anaheim so far is absolutely incredible but the talent was always there and like we said above, the Penguins made this to rocket science. The Penguins wouldn't trust Sprong 5 on 5 in a three goal hockey game while the Ducks put him out there in overtime and he made Bob look like a midget goalie that plays in the shootouts during intermission.
Here - Just have a look at what you can do with real playing time and real linemates:

That shot on Sprong's game winner vs Columbus. Wowza.
Daniel Sprong is good.
The Penguins are dumb
Casey DeSmith vs John Gibson tonight.
Speaking of Gibson...Did you know he is from Pittsburgh? You'll probably hear it about 69,420 times tonight.
The Penguins will be wearing white at home tonight so that the Ducks can wear their incredible third jerseys.
Kris Letang is a game-time decision. He took part in the morning skate paired with Brian Dumoulin so I'd say he plays.
Also, it appears as if Jack Johnson, the coveted offseason free agent defenseman that the Penguins so desperately wanted, may be a healthy scratch tonight for the first time all season.
No Hornqvist tonight, though he did skate prior to practice.
The Sprong tribute video will probably last longer than any time on ice he's had combined in three years with the Penguins.
The Sprong-less Penguins are 5-1-1 over their last seven games.
Still can't believe the Penguins gave up on a 21 year old with Sprong's scoring ability.
On that note. Mike Sullivan also sucks.
Daniel Sprong could solve World Hunger.
Daniel Sprong could have stopped 9/11.
Daniel Sprong is also probably your Dad.
