The Penguins (17-12-6) will play their final game before the three day holiday break tonight when they take on the lowly Carolina Hurricanes (14-14-5). Puck drop is set for just after 7pm from PNC Arena in Raleigh.
Folks, the Pens are showing some signs of life again. Following an absolutely brutal loss against the Ducks last Monday, the Pens have strung together two nice wins including an emotional 2-1 victory over the Caps in D.C. and a well-earned 2-1 win Thursday over the Wild. Could the Penguins potentially win three in a row for the first time since Vietnam? Statistics say yes. Under Mike Sullivan, the Pens are 9-3-1 against the Canes and 4-1-1 at PNC Arena. This may be hard to believe but over their last ten games the Penguins are 7-2-1 and have won four of the last five.
The Canes got off to a hot start early this season, only to come crashing back down to earth realizing that they're the Canes. The one thing Carolina has going for them is their victory celebration when playing at home. Haven't seen it yet, check this out:

If the Penguins do lose tonight, hopefully we see a celebration that's similar. The Canes have been called out by some old dinosaurs around the NHL, one of them being Brian Burke. Burke called the celebration, "pee-wee garbage stuff." Honestly, the NHL is run by these old fun-sucking jamokes so anytime something like this happens, I am a big time fan. Brian Burke sucks and so does anyone else who hates having fun.
PNC is a crap bank. Why is the Virtual Wallet app down 99.69% of the time?
The Penguins will play their 4,000th game in franchise history tonight. I feel like that's a lot?
Also, with a victory tonight the Penguins will have 1,800 total.
Sebastian Aho owns the Penguins, so he'll probably score at some point tonight.
Speaking of scoring again, Bryan Rust could melt steel beams. He has 8 goals over his last 6 games.
I miss Calvin de Haan and we never even had him.
I paid $5.25 for a Bud Light bottle last night. I am not happy.
The Hurricanes should wear their Whalers throwback every day forever. Hell, maybe even move back to Hartford for the ultimate tribute.
Jamie Oleksiak is still out with CTE after getting his ass beat by Tom Wilson. Look for Juuso Riikola again.
Honestly, it's the holiday break. Go out and celebrate and consume alcohol or watch Elf, or both.
