Look out the Penguins are on a big ole roll, having won 8 in a row. Tonight they take on the Blackhawks in Pittsburgh as they look to extend the streak to 9. Casey DeSmith is going to start in net tonight. Pittsburgh is coming off a 4-0 win over the Jets at home. The Pens are clicking on every level with all four lines scoring points, the defense is shutting teams down in the defensive zone and the goalies playing Stanley Cup caliber hockey. With the win over the Jets on Friday, the Pens are now tied for 1st in the Metro with 52 points.
The Blackhawks are coming off a OT Loss against the Islanders and continue to have a horrible season. Unlike the Penguins, the Hawks haven't been able to turn their season around. After making a coaching change, they haven't gotten a spark and are potentially facing a rebuilding process if they don't get going soon. Chicago has the second worst goal difference in the league at -33. Pittsburgh is at +27.
Some injury update here: Justin Schultz is now day-to-day and could be back soon.
The Penguins will honor the 2009 Stanley Cup Champion team tonight prior to puck drop.
Casey DeSmith gets the start. He went 6-3-1 in December with a .929 save percentage.
Sidney Crosby is currently riding a six game point streak and has 13 points over those six games.
Kris Letang should win the Norris
Matt Murray is good again.
Bryan Rust starting being good when the Pens last faced the Blackhawks.
The Penguins are 13-2-1 over their last 16 games. That's good.
It's definitely Penguins SZN now that the Steelers tanked.
Chicago is old and falling apart.
Patrick Kane beat up a cab driver.
Lets do 9 in a row.
