After having their eight game win streak snapped against the Blackhawks last time out, the Penguins (23-13-6) will look to start a new streak when they host the Florida Panthers (17-16-7) tonight before embarking on a five game road trip. Puck drop is set for just after 7pm.
Helllllooooooo everybodyyyyyyy, the Penguins lost on Sunday after blowing a two goal lead to the Blackhawks by a final score of 5-3. While this was disheartening, and if the Penguins ever do play the Hawks in the Stanley Cup Final I would pick Hawks in four, the Penguins offense didn't look any worse for wear. During the eight game win streak, the Pens offense outscore opponents 32-9 and had no problems scoring goals on Sunday, except for you know...late in the third when they needed one. Not to be critical of the goaltending or anything considering that's one of the main reasons the Penguins are 8-2-0 over their last ten but I thought Casey DeSmith gave up two maybe three pretty soft goals in the loss. Nonetheless, the Penguins had a bad night and it happens to everyone, except me.
Tonight the Panthers begin a five game road trip. The trip is a strange one which has them going from Pittsburgh to Edmonton then onto Calgary, Vancouver, and Montreal before returning home to face the Maple Leafs. Losers of their last two contests including a 4-3 overtime loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, they currently sit nine points out of a playoff spot and are about as average as can be despite going 6-3-1 over their last ten games. The Cats are led by Jonathan Huberdeau who has 46 points (11 goals, 35 assists) in 40 games played.
Matt Murray is expected back in net for the Penguins and will likely oppose Roberto Luongo.
It's 70's Night tonight. Look for Jack Johnson to celebrate by turning the puck over upwards of 70 times.
Roberto Luongo vs Matt Murray tonight - confirmed.
The Penguins lose every game that @JPAloia55 writes a gameday for. Book it. Sorry folks.
I wouldn't expect the lines to change much - at least entering tonight. After puck drop all bets are off.
Evgeni Malkin is currently riding a three game point streak and has one goal and three assists over those three games.
Pittsburgh native Vince Trocheck is still out with an injury suffered earlier this season.
Aleksander Barkov is pretty good at hockey. He's currently up to be voted in by the fans for the final all-star spot.
This is the last home game for the Penguins for roughly three weeks with the All-Star break and bye week upcoming.
LMAO it is unreal that the Penguins have lost ten straight games to the Blackhawks. They could have a team full of toddlers playing the Penguins and I would still be terrified.
At least, entering tonight, Matt Murray still has his perfect 7-0 record since returning from injury.
