Hellooooooooo everybodyyyyyy how areeeeee yaaaa? Tonight the Penguins (40-24-11) will play game three of their four game road trip when they take on Tyler Seguin and the Dallas Stars (38-30-6). Puck drop is set for just after 8pm tonight from the American Airlines Center.
What an emotional rollercoaster this season has been. The Penguins are coming off a 2-1 shootout victory over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night. Of course, the Penguins held a one goal lead late in the third only to watch the Preds tie it up with just 3:41 left in regulation. Despite some tense moments in overtime, neither team could break through. Of course, it was Sidney Crosby who scored the lone goal in the shootout to give the Penguins an extra point in the standings and the victory. Speaking of scoring, goals have been hard to come by as of late. The Pens have just five goals over their last four games.
The Stars are a pretty decent team. Entering play today, they hold the first wild card spot in the West with 82 points, three ahead of the Minnesota Wild. Dallas is 6-3-1 over their last ten contests despite dropping their last game, losing 3-1 to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday. I was getting excited for a Big Rig reunion tonight but it appears if Jamie Oleksiak will be a healthy scratch for the second straight game. Expect a good game tonight as both teams are still working on solidifying a playoff spot.
Matt Murray will oppose Anton Khudobin in goal which is somewhat surprising considering Ben Bishop has six shutouts and some very solid numbers so far this season.
The Penguins beat the Stars last time out by a score of 5-1 way back on November 21st. I went out drinking that night so my memory is foggy.
Dallas traded for Rangers winger Mats Zuccarello but he broke his arm blocking a shot in his first game.
Jason Spezza has to be coming up on 69 years old.
Tyler Seguin is hot both physically and figuratively. He's tallied 11 points over his last 10 games.
Entering play today, the Penguins are tied with the Isles for second place in the Metrosexual Division with 91 points.
The Islanders are currently tied with the Flyers as I write this. F both of those teams.
Per the Penguins, Sidney Crosby has 20 points in 15 career games played against the Stars (9G,11A)
Hot take - but the Penguins should try and score more than one goal tonight and try not to blow a late lead.
I thoroughly enjoy that Marc-Andre Fleury still owns real estate in Yinzer fans' heads. I love it.
Olli Maatta could return soon? Where the hell will he play?
