Hellooooooo everybodyyyyy, tonight the Penguins (8-6-1) look to rebound following their 6-4 loss to the Boston Bruins on Monday when they take on the red hot New York Islanders (11-3-0) from the Barclays Center. Puck drop is set for 7pm.
The Penguins lost in Boston Monday against the scumbag Bruins by a score of 6-4. It's a shame neither of the Penguins goalies could stop a beach ball because the team played unbelievable. Pittsburgh went down 3-0 early and mounted an amazing comeback, scoring four straight goals including defenseman John Marino getting his NHL goal in front of his smoke show mom. Did you get the chance to see her on T.V.? Absolute rocket. Nonetheless, the Penguins blew their lead and the B's scored two more. Patrice Bergeron iced it with an empty-netter. God, I hate the Bruins. That said, if either of the Pens goaltenders had played remotely well, the Penguins would have likely came away with a win.
Onward to the Islanders. I still have PTSD from last year's playoffs when New York swept them in four straight games, holding the Penguins to just six goals throughout the series. To make matters worse, the Islanders somehow enter play tonight on a ten game winning streak. Yes, 10 games. Like 5+5 or 2+7+1 or any variation to get to ten. That is unreal to me. This Isles team doesn't have a definitive superstar and their defense on paper is average at best. New York is led by forward Josh Bailey who has 12 points (6G, 6A) in 14 games played.
Expect Semyon Varlamov to oppose Matt Murray in net.
It's bad that I had to research where the Islanders were playing this game. They're currently splitting time between like 13 different rinks in 3 countries.
Kris Letang is 'day-to-day' after sucking horribly last game. Just kidding, I think it was a lower-body injury. He may play today. If not, Chad Ruhwedel would have to go.
UPDATE: No Letang tonight and possibly Saturday, Marino will play alongside Dumoulin on the top pair and Juuso Riikola will draw into the lineup.
Holy hell, the Penguins out-shot the Bruins 44 to 26. My god.
The Penguins recalled forward Sam Lafferty from Wilkes-Barre. He had 3 goals and 3 assists in 6 games.
The Islanders last loss came way back on October 11th. They've since went off and have won every game.
Maybe Mike Sullivan will actually stick with Dominik Kahun now and he should. Aside from the game he was a healthy scratch (which was bullshit) Kahun has 5 points over his last 3 games.
Derick Brassard is a member of the Islanders. TBT to when he didn't 'get opportunities' playing with Crosby and Malkin. What a loser.
