Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to St. Louis. The Penguins travel to midwest to take on the defending Stanley Cup Champions in what promises to be a battle of emotions for us fans. Pittsburgh (14-8-4, 32 points) is coming off a 5-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets last night while the Blues (16-5-6, 38 points) are coming off a 3-1 victory in Dallas last night over the Stars. Puck is set to drop from Enterprise Center just after 8pm.
Goaltending continues to be an issue for the Penguins. Last night Tristian Jerry struggled, allowing 4 goals on 25 shots. Matt Murray hasn't been good in a month but expect him to start tonight since we are going back-to-back.
On the positive side Jake Guentzel continues to show he's a good hockey player without Sidney Crosby as he now has 27 points (15-12) in 26 games. He has recorded at least 1 goal in his last 4 games including 2 against Vancouver.
With so many injuries it's a miracle Pittsburgh hasn't collapsed yet, especially on defense but if things don't get better soon, don't be surprised if GMJR makes a move. You can't rely on AHL guys playing big minutes every game for long periods of time.
Bryan Rust missed last nights game due to an injury suffered in practice. No word yet on if he plays tonight. If he can't go, expect Juuso Riikola to be your 4th line right winger again. Matt Murray will get the nod in goal so fasten your seatbelts. Jordan Binnington should get the start for the Blues, he did not play in last night's win against the Stars.
Pierre Luc-Dubois is a scumbag.
Matt Murray will start for the Pens tonight. Expect a lot of easy goals and with the Blues being 4-1-1 over their last six games...this could get ugly.
Since when has Derrick Pouliot been a member of the Blues? He'll be filling in for Robert 'Ya Know' Bortuzzo, who is serving a four-game suspension for trying to kill Predators forward Viktor Arvidsson.
Speaking of which, someone will get hurt. It's in the Pens DNA.
Pittsburgh went 1-1 against the Blues last year, including a 6-1 win.
If you miss this game...don't worry you'll be able to see the Blues when they come to town on Wednesday (NHL scheduling sucks)
Evgeni Malkin was awful last night but he's 3 goals away from 400 for his career.
Former Penguin David Perron leads the Blues in points with 26 (11G,15A) and is currently riding a 4 game point streak (1G, 3A).
Tyler Bozak will play in his 100th game as a Blue.
Former Penguin Oskar Sundqvist won't play tonight. He's on the IR with a lower-body injury. Never forget when the Pens sent him to St.Louis for the legendary Ryan Reaves. Miss him.
