For the first time in about eight decades, Tristan Jarry got scored on in a hockey game. A disastrous second period where we are pretty sure Tristan Jarry was the only player on the ice, ultimately ended Jarry's club record shutout streak and would ultimately sink the Penguins 4-1. This also means that Matt Murray will be back in goal tonight because Sullivan is looking for a reason to get his boy back in net full time. The Penguins (17-10-4) got out to an early lead when Jake Guentzel put them up 1-0 roughly three minutes into the game. That would be the only time the Penguins would score. Montreal rode a three-goal second period to a 4-1 victory.
Columbus comes into tonight's game with a 12-14-4 record and are coming off a 5-2 win against Washington on Monday night. This will be the third meeting of the season for these two teams (yet there are teams in the Metro the Penguins haven't even played yet) with each team winning one game a piece. The last meeting went the Blue Jackets way when they won 5-2 on Black Friday. We expect to see Joonas Korpisalo tonight for the CBJ. They haven't played since Monday and we are pretty sure their backup is a janitor at Wal Mart.
Tristan Jarry broke the club shutout record Tuesday night. His shutout streak lasted 177 minutes and 15 seconds.
Can't wait for Matt Murray to start tonight :(.
In the least unsurprising news, forward Joseph Blandisi was recalled on an emergency basis.
The Penguins have 8 straight wins against the Blue Jackets at PPG Paints Arena. Can't wait for this streak to end because we wrote it.
Pittsburgh is 10-3-1 over their last 14 meetings against CBJ.
The Penguins best defenseman Jack Johnson will play in his 900th career game tonight.
Evgeni Malkin still sitting at 399 career goals.
Jake Guentzel, who is a clearly a product of Sidney Crosby, is good. He scored his 17th goal of the season Tuesday and now has 32 points on the season.
Korpisalo vs who knows.
Mike Sullivan is a moron. Multiple times after TV timeouts late in the game Sullivan sent out the 4th line down by 2.
Dominik Simon still sucks.
It warms our cold dead hearts to see the Blue Jackets have such a bad record.
That being said. Can't wait for them to win by 5 tonight.
