The Penguins California trip continues tonight as the Pens head to Anaheim to take on the Ducks. This will be the last meeting on the season between these two teams. The Penguins won the fist meeting in Pittsburgh by a score of 2-1 way back on October 10th.
The Pens are coming into this game on a four game losing streak. They dropped their most recent game to the Kings 2-1. The Kings got goals from the Staples Center Janitor and one of the concession stand workers. The Pens got their only goal from Bryan Rust in the 3rd Period. The Pens were pooped for a good chunk of the 1st period but Tristan Jarry kept the Pens in it. Once they got into the game the Pens dominated the rest of the game but an LA accountant closed the door on the Pens all night.
The Ducks enter play tonight coming off a 4-3 overtime win against the Oilers back on Tuesday night. They are 3-4-3 over their last 10 games and are led by forwards Ryan Getzlaf and Adam Henrique, who both have 39 points. That's pretty bad.
The Penguins new acquisitions saw their first game action against LA. Conor Sheary saw time on the top line with Zucker and Crosby while Marleau and Rodrigues saw time on the 3rd and 4th lines. Both Sheary and Marleau had and created a number of scoring chances. It took Rodrigues awhile to really get into the game because the first period saw multiple special teams opportunities. Once he did get into the game, he was fast and a menace on the forecheck and it was evident why the Penguins brought him in. Surprisingly, Sullivan didn't deviate from the original lines all night despite the Penguins not being able to cash in on their opportunities. Hopefully he continues to give these lines a chance to work themselves out.
Ducks third jerseys tonight.
Andrew Agozzino is 100% scoring a goal tonight.
Probably Murray vs Gibson tonight.
The Penguins had a golden opportunity to get things back on track this week with three games against teams that aren't going to the playoffs. They are 0-1 so far but 4 points wouldn't be the worst thing.
If you want to have a little bit of hope, the Penguins are 11-2-1 over their last 14 games against the Western Conference.
Patric Hornqvist has 8 points over his last 7 games (3G, 5A).
Sidney Crosby is still sitting at 798 assists.
Per Penguins PR, Patrick Marleau has 74 points in 114 games played against the Ducks.
Over/Under how many times Dom Simon tries to go 1-on an entire city and loses the puck tonight is set at 3.
John Marino and Brian Dumoulin took full contact yesterday and could return tonight.
Patrick Marleau looked good in his first game as a Penguin.
Dom Simon saw less than 8 minutes of ice time against LA. A gift from the heavens.
Jared McCann has an upper body injury so that's fun. He did skate yesterday though.
