The Penguins put together a tremendous 3rd Period to overcome an early 2-0 deficit to the Florida Panthers. Reilly Smith scored late in the 1st on a shot pass off the pads during a Panthers power play to give Florida a 1-0 lead. Mark Pysyk redirected one from the slot in the 2nd to give the Panthers an early 2-0 lead and the Penguins looked like completely and utter dog shit to that point. The Penguins got their second power play of the night and the Panthers decided they were going to give Sidney Crosby a goal in his first game back as he cut the lead to 2-1. Check for yourself.
Crosby's play basically turned the Penguins game around. In the 3rd, Carl Hagelin and Bryan Rust had a 2 on 1 after an excellent chip by Nick Bonino and James Reimer happened and the game was then tied. Tommy Kuhnhackl then made a brilliant play in front of the Penguins bench that sprung him and Eric Fehr for another 2 on 1. Kuhnhackl slid the puck cross crease like on NHL 17 and Fehr tapped it in 5 hole. After the goal, the Penguins basically went into the Jacques Martin Scorpion Death Lock and shut the game down by virtually playing keep away for 6 minutes. Florida didn't even get James Reimer out of the net until about 25 seconds to go.
