The Penguins improved to (5-2-1) on the year, thanks to a 4-2 victory against the New York Islanders (3-5-0) last night at PPG Paints Arena. In just his second game back following a concussion, Sidney Crosby didn't disappoint again, tallying one goal and one assist, including the game winning goal late in the third period.
It wasn't just the offense that stepped up in this one, the Penguins special teams managed to kill 5/6 penalties and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury had another stellar night, stopping 35/37 shots that he faced. We'd be remiss if we didn't give a shout out to two certain Islanders players, so here it goes: Johnny Boychuk, thank you for getting absolutely outworked and out-classed by Sidney Crosby and then whining about it afterwards. You provided us with numerous laughs. Also, former captain (so that means he's supposed to be a leader, right) Andrew Ladd thank you for boarding Carl Hagelin which led to the Phil Kessel insurance goal. Surely, you didn't want to take a penalty and take even more momentum away from your team late in the third, but you did just that and I thank you. Without further adieu, let's look at the scoring summary.
