Tonight will be a historic night for our country, and no it's not because either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump will be elected President, it's because for the first time ever, Sidney Crosby (the best one) faces off against the 'next one', Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
The Oilers (9-3-1) are atop the Pacific Division and currently have the best road record in the NHL at (5-1-1) and to top that, the Oilers currently have the best road power play, clicking at 33% (6 for 18). This will be the first of two meetings against the Oilers this season. We could have seen Crosby vs McDavid last season, however McDavid decided to break his collarbone and duck the matchup. Either way, tonight is more important than the presidential election.
I'd be remiss if i didn't mention the Penguins at all in the opening paragraphs. The Penguins are sitting in 2nd place in the Metropolitan Division at (8-2-1) and are fresh off a 5-0 ass whoopin' against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday, in which 11 different Penguin players recorded a point.
Speaking of Penguin players recording points, Sidney Crosby is a a roll. Sid led the league in goals for about .69 seconds and now he's in a four-way tie for first place with Artem Anisimov (CHI) , David Pastrnak (BOS), and Patrik Laine (WPG) with eight goals.
The Penguins made a few roster moves this morning and yesterday night, they are as followed:
Defenseman David Warsofsky and forward Tom Sestito sent down to Wilkes-Barre.
The Penguins have recalled defenseman Steve Oleksy and Chad Ruhwedel.
It's rare for the Penguins to carry 8 defensemen, so these moves were a bit intriguing.
Was hoping prior to the roster moves, we'd see Sestito fight Lucic in a battle of worthless hockey players.
My hatred for Milan Lucic is unbelievable.
Never forget when he ran Ryan Miller, which was clean by the way.
Malkin leads the Penguins in scoring with 12 points in 12 games (6 goals, 6 assists).
Per NHL.com, Phil Kessel has 18 points against the Oilers in 14 career games.
Sidney Crosby has 15 points in 10 games against the Oilers.
Apparently McDavid said, "having half of Crosby's success would be a great career."
McDavid much like Crosby, was drafted 1st overall - Crosby in 2005 - McDavid in 2015.
So far this year, McDavid has 5 goals and 9 assists in 13 games played.
Jacob Trouba, the Winnipeg defenseman, signed a 2 year, $6M deal in Winnipeg yesterday, so now we need to be on #SignAndTradeWatch.
We'll be at the game tonight, so if you're going hit us up or slide into our DMs.
The Penguins are (5-0-1) in their last six games.
The Oilers are good this year and either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump will be elected President tonight, has hell truly frozen over?
Don't answer that.
