"On the 12th day of December my true love game to me, a beatdown on the Coyotes by the Penguins."
Going into last nights game, the Penguins have been on a high during the month of December, and well last night was no different. The Penguins crushed the Coyotes 7-0. Even before this game got underway the Coyotes TV announcers already knew the game was over before it started.
Scott Wilson got the scoring off early for the Pens off of a sweet shot from the right circle. After Wilson scored, the Pens had many opportunities including one by Bonino right infront. However, the Pens only had a 1-0 lead after one. Before the first came to an end, Martin Hanzal clipped Sidney Crosby up high with a high stick. Crosby would require a couple of stitches before coming back in the second.
In the second period, the Penguins exploded for four goals, including a sweet baseball-like swing by Sidney Crosby. Crosby waited until the puck dropped just below the crossbar to swing the puck past the Coyotes netminder. -----> Before we continue, how anyone can say Sidney Crosby isn't the #BestInTheWorld is beyond me <----- After two, the Pens had a 5-0 lead.
During the third, Mike Sullivan cooled off the threat as he dialed back from using the stars throughout the majority of it. Phil Kessel fired a nasty slapshot from the left circle making it a 6-0. Lastly, Evgeni Malkin got crushed by some curtain-jerker, which prompted Sullivan to bring out his big guns for the powerplay. Justin Schultz would score to make it 7-0, and the Penguins came away with their second shutout of the year.
