The Pens and the Avs get together tonight for their first meeting of the season tonight at PPG Paints Arena. The Pens (16-12-3) are coming off a loss Saturday night to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Pens fell behind early in that game and were playing catch up all night. Their rally ultimately fell short despite numerous chances late in the game. The Avs (13-13-2) are coming into tonight's game after hanging a 7 spot on the Florida Panthers, their only win in their last 5 games.
Matt Murray has returned to practice and took part in the morning skate today. He is close to returning but won't dress tonight. Look for Jarry to get the start. Tom Kuhnhackl and Patric Hornqvist are both game-time decisions tonight. Hornqvist took a puck to the head late in the game Saturday. With the way Dominik Simon played on Saturday I wouldn't be against seeing him play again tonight even if Kuhnhackl is good to go. Legitimately don't know who half the players on the Avalanche are anymore. Matt Duchene is no longer with the team and I'm pretty sure they are using random created players you find 5 years into your NHL GM mode. With as bad as this team is and even with all the no name players in their line up, Nathan MacKinnon is still worth the price of admission.
No clue why we even attempt to put this in here anymore. Scouting the Refs hasn't tweeted in two days and their website hasn't updated since the 8th.
The Avs are bad
The Pens need a better start than they had against Toronto. The Avs aren't near the caliber team the Maple Leafs are but you can't play from 3-0 down every night.
Tbt to when the Ravens let the clock run out last night because they don't know the rules.
Like we said earlier, no Matt Murray again tonight. However he does look close to returning and will be with the team on the next road trip.
Zach Zapf left last nights Steelers/Ravens game early. What a nerd.
