After two days off the Penguins (36-23-4) return to action tonight against the New Jersey Devils (32-22-8). In those two days off, we have seen the Flyers jump into first place in the Metro division standings. The Penguins could jump back over them with a win tonight. The last time these two teams met the Devils won 3-1 back on February 3rd. Since that game the Penguins are 7-1-1. The Devils are coming into tonight's game coming off a 2-1 victory over the Isles. The Pens are coming in off a loss after their comeback attempt against the Panthers fell short. It's still crazy to me that this is only the 2nd times these two teams have met this season. Mostly because the Penguins season series is already over against some teams in the East.
Derick Brassard has finally made it to Pittsburgh and will probably be in the line up tonight. No clue what the trickle down effect will be and what that will do to the lines. Only thing we are sure of is Casey DeSmith being in goal tonight for the Penguins
Like we said earlier Derick Brassard has made it to Pittsburgh. Look for him to be in the lineup tonight.
Patric Hornqvist locked up - 5 years / $26.5M. Done.
Casey DeSmith is getting the start tonight because Matt Murray decided he was going to take his leave of absence earlier this year just so he can come back and act like a hero again after everyone else does all the work for him. He is out with a concussion after taking a slap shot to the head in practice yesterday. If he had a glove hand that worked maybe that could have been avoided.
The Penguins had a fairly quiet trade deadline yesterday. Only thing they did was send Greg McKegg to Carolina in exchange for Josh Jooris.
The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired defenseman Ryan McDonagh and JT Miller (he's not really from here) yesterday.
Evgeni Malkin is good at the hockeys.
Matt Hunwick is still on the team for everyone that wants to complain about that.
