Oh the joys of back-to-back games. The Penguins play host to the Maple Leafs of Toronto following their lost last night to the New Jersey Devils. In this battle of former employers of Phil Kessel, the Penguins will be without captain Sidney Crosby as he will be out at least six weeks following core muscle surgery. Speaking of Phil Kessel, the two-time Stanley Cup winner plays today with his new team, the Arizona Coyotes. The Pens will also be without Nick Bjugstad, as he is dealing with the dreaded lower-body injury. Crosby has been placed on Injured Reserved and Joseph Blandisi has been recalled from the AHL.
The Maple Leafs come in at 9-8-4 which is one spot behind the Penguins for the second wild card spot. Pittsburgh currently sits at 10-7-2. Both teams have 22 points. The Maple Leafs have struggled mightily this season and have had their own injury issues that have made a rough start to their season.
We know Bjugstad is out but Daily Face-off isn't updated SMH.
Two former Phil Kessel teams. We miss you Phil. Please come home.
This is a back-to-back for the Leafs as well...they lost at home last night to Boston 4-2.
A rookie goalie making his first career start for the Leafs...shutout coming.
No Matt Murray...thank the lord baby Jesus above.
Jack Johnson scored yesterday so expect a god awful game tonight.
The injury bug must live in Pittsburgh with all the injuries that have happened.
Hoping someone swings a helmet at a Penguin tonight.
Leafs win and they are in the playoff picture.
Former Pens prospect Kaspari Kapanen is in for Toronto.
