Helllloooooooooooooooo everyboddddddyyyyy, tonight the Penguins play the middle game of their three game road trip when they head to Colorado to get high and take on the Avalanche. Puck is set to drop from Pepsi Center just after 9PM.
So, before I start this game day I would like to issue a formal apology to the Penguins upper-management including General Manager Jim Rutherford. I was wrong about Brandon Tanev. I called the signing 'dumb' and said that Jim Rutherford will be the reason that I drink. I mean, I have consumed a lot of alcohol because of Jim Rutherford, but that's because we won back-to-back Stanley Cups (nottttt a biggggg deallllllll).Tanev signed a six-year, $21M deal with the Penguins this offseason, carrying an average annual value of $3.5M. So far this season, Tanev has 9 goals and 11 assists in 43 games played. He also enters play tonight 4th in the league with 166 hits. Not that I care about hits but Tanev is a high-energy guy that constantly skates around like he inhaled 69 lines of cocaine. Great signing...sorry Jim.
Brandon Tanev and the Pens beat the Golden Knights on Tuesday by a score of 4-3, snapping their 4 game winning streak. Pittsburgh jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead and eventually made it 3-0 before Vegas decided to actually try. The Knights put up the next two goals and came close to tying it before guess who, Brandon Tanev, tucked one past Fleury to make it 4-2. The Knights would get one late but it wasn't enough.

The Av's are an absolute wagon of a hockey team, however, they haven't been playing like it lately. Over the course of their last 10 games, Colorado is 3-6-1 and including two straight losses to the Islanders and most recently the Rangers on Tuesday night. They are led by forward, also from Cole Harbour, Novia Scotia, Nathan MacKinnon, who has 65 points on the season (26G, 39A). Entering play tonight, the Avalanche sit third in the Central Division with 54 points.
In goal tonight, you'll likely find Tristan Jarry for the Penguins. Jarry made 31 of 34 saves on Tuesday against the Knights. For the Av's, expect Philipp Grubauer in goal. He's their 'starter' but also has a good amount of splits with Pavel Francouz. In 26 games, Grubauer owns a 2.92 goals against average along with a .909 save percentage.
In honor of being in Colorado...
Joseph Blandisi had to go through waivers, however, he wasn't assigned to Wilkes-Barre or the Penguins.
If Crosby plays, expect endless Cole Harbour references. Oh God, I'm not ready.
The Penguins are 12-3-1 over their last 16 games and I feel like that's good.
No Joonas Donskoi tonight the for the Av's. He was knocked the hell out against the Rangers.
With a point tonight, Jack Johnson will reach 300 for his career. The internet will melt.
Brandon Tanev has three game-winning goals this season. What a player.
Speaking of Tanev, he 'scored' the game-winner against the Av's in overtime during their first meeting. The primary assist went to Av's forward Gabriel Landeskog.
Per the Penguins...dating back to last year, Evgeni Malkin has points in 23 out of his last 24 road games played (8G,21A).
On Tuesday, Kris Letang and Tristan Jarry were named all-stars. Letang sucks but Jarry is elite (don't @ me).
This will be Letang's 6th all-star game which is 6 too many, IMO.
John Marino has 20 points this season (4G, 16A). That's legit incredible for a conditional 6th round pick.
Bjugstad and Schultz both practiced yesterday in non-contact jerseys so their return is imminent as well.
Honestly, I can't wait until the Pens drop 4 straight games once Crosby comes back and someone on Twitter suggests trading him.
We participated in Rail Yard Tap's (located in Bridgeville, PA) hockey trivia and placed 2nd on Tuesday. We won and air hockey table and a shit ton of peachy penguins gummies (129 to be exact)
