Helllooooooo everybodyyyy, the Penguins (29-12-5) hit the road for a back-to-back beginning tonight in Boston against the Bruins (27-9-12). Puck is set to drop from TD Garden just after 7PM.
The Penguins are absolutely buzzing right now. They've won four straight and just got the best player back in the league, let alone the world back from injury. In his first game back, Crosby recorded 1 goal and 3 assists. The Pens went on to defeat the Wild by a score of 7-3. Even more bizarre, Evgeni Malkin actually played well with Sid in the lineup. Gino went on to have a 3 point game (2G, 1A), which included a power play goal. Bryan Rust has already surpassed his career high in goals with 19. He had 18 last season in 72 games.
Boston enters this game having played three games in four nights. They're most recently coming off a 3-0 loss to the Blue Jackets. The Bruins also lost goaltender Tuukka Rask in that game due to a concussion which he suffered when Blue Jacket's forward, Emil Bemstrom, elbowed him while trying to cut across the crease. The Bruins are still led by forward David Pastrnak who has 66 points on the season, including 36 goals. He may legit score 55+ goals this season. Entering play tonight, the B's are first in the Atlantic Division with 66 points and have a league low 9 regulation losses.
For the Bruins, expect Jaroslav Halak to get the start. With the Penguins having a back-to-back, it'll be interesting to see who they go with in goal tonight. The Penguins will face the Bruins again Sunday, this time back in Pittsburgh but I honestly wouldn't be shocked if Murray got the nod in goal tonight.
I still have PTSD from watching Jaroslav Halak own the Penguins.
The Penguins are 8-1-1 over their last 10 games entering play tonight and are 15-3-1 over their last 19 games.
Pittsburgh is 0-1 against the B's this season. They lost 6-4 back on November 4th. These teams will again on Sunday to conclude their season series.
The Penguins don't win in Boston, so if you are choosing not to watch one game for the rest of the season, make that tonight. They're 0-6-1 in Boston since 2015 (AKA Mike Sullivan era).
Per the Penguins, Tuesday was Sidney Crosby's first four-point game since March 2nd of 2019 against the Canadiens. For what it's worth, most players never have four-point games so....
Kris Letang recorded the 400th assist of his career on Tuesday night. He sucks but he was the first defenseman in franchise history to do so.
Speaking of defensemen, Bostonian John Marino scored his first career NHL goal back here in November during their last matchup.
Per Penguins PR, Malkin has 9 goals in 15 games throughout his career at TD Garden.
Alex Galchenyuk still sucks.
Speaking of sucks, if you didn't see it....Brad Marchand absolutely butchered his attempt in the shootout on Monday night.

The Penguins are the original black and gold team...IMO.
