Oh it is that time of the season once again. One of those games you just love waking up for. Penguins. Flyers. What more needs to be said.
These two teams have met one other time this season with the Penguins laying the smack down on the scumbags from the other side of the state. That game ended 7-1 in favor of the Penguins. Tonight the Penguins travel to the trash heap of Philadelphia to take on the Flyers in their final game before the All-Star break, where they'll have nine days off.
The Penguins (31-13-5) are coming off of a wild come-from-behind 4-3 win over Boston on Sunday. The Penguins fell behind 11 seconds into the game and then found themselves in a 2-0 hole a little over two minutes into the game. This drew a justified bronx cheer from the PPG Paints Arena crowd whenever Matt Murray finally made a save. The Pens would eventually fall behind 3-0 before Dominik Simon scored late in the first to make it 3-1. Teddy Blueger would add a goal in the second to bring the score to 3-2. In the third, the Penguins would head to a penalty kill and during that kill they would tie the game. Number 3 on the ice but Number 1 in our hearts, Jack Johnson, launched a bomb from the slot to tie the game at 3. Bryan Rust would eventually net the game winner.
The Flyers beat the Kings in their last game. Who cares. Both of those teams suck ass. Speaking of sucking ass, expect Matt Murray vs Brian Elliott in goal tonight.
Carter Hart is a baby. He is faking an injury so he doesn't get obliterated by the Penguins twice in a span of 10 days.
Brian Elliott should be in goal for the Flyers. He sucks.
Go listen to Circles by Mac Miller.
Sidney Crosby has been o.k. since his return. In his first 4 games since returning from injury, Crosby has 8 points (3G, 5A).
The Penguins are 3-0-1 in their last 4 trips to Philly.
Travis Konecny is a want-to-be Jake Guentzel.
Per the Penguins, in 68 career games against the Flyers, Sidney Crosby has 102 points. That's 4th most in NHL history amongst them. The three in front of him: Mario Lemieux (124), Jaromir Jagr (120), Bryan Trottier (117). That's pretty good.
The Penguins are 17-4-1 over their last 22 games.
Hopefully the Pens won't have to bail out Matt Murray's sorry ass again.
Bryan Rust has 21 goals this season. Unreal.
Dominik Kahun is out with a concussion.
Pens recalled Joseph Blandisi for the 69th time this season.
No clue why Andrew Agozzino continues to get playing time.
Justin Schultz went full in practice. He could be a game-time decision. Stay tuned.
