Hello. We are back with an afternoon game as the Penguins take on the Sabres. Pittsburgh is coming off of a 4-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leaves on Thursday night. Puck is set to drop from PPG Paints Arena just after 1PM.
Thursday's game was poop. No use talking about it. The Sabres (27-25-8) aren't very good. They are coming into today's game following a 7-4 loss to *squints* the Ottawa Senators. These teams have only met once so far this season. That was on opening night and the Sabres won that contest 3-1. Worthless midget Conor Sheary fell down and managed to score two goals that night.
We are going to be completely honest with you. It's hard to find a reason to care about this game. *Cue all the maniacs screaming, "IT"S IM-POR-TANT. DA PENQUINZ COOD BE IN DA FIRST PLACE!!1!!1". Sorry. Still don't care. Talk to us on Sunday when the Penguins face a real opponent (and Ovi hopefully scores his 700th goal).
Third jerseys today.
The Penguins are 7-2-1 in their alternate uniform so far this season.
The Pens made a minor trade on Thursday, sending PA turnpike's biggest supporter Joseph Blandisi and Nick Lucchini to Montreal for Riley Barber (I hardly know her!!) and Phil Varone. Clearly a depth move that will have hopefully no impact on the NHL roster.
HCMS has been rotating the goalies on a game-by-game basis recently. So if he stays on that path expect to see Tristan Jarry today and Matt Murray tomorrow afternoon against the Caps.
Dominik Kahun blocked a shot with his knee on Thursday. It happened in the third period period so he didn't return to the game. With the luck the Penguins have had with injuries so far this season, we totally expect him to need his leg amputated.
The Penguins opened up the season against the Sabres, losing by a score of 3-1.
Buffalo is 16-16-5 in Eastern Conference matchups this season.
Conor Sheary just fell down.
Jack Eichel leads the Sabres with 75 points (33G, 42A). The next closest player in points is Sam Reinhart with 48 (21G, 27A).
Sidney Crosby has 15 points over his last 10 games.
No clue who is gonna be in goal for Buffalo.
Another weekend back-to-back for the Penguins. It's been a pretty common thing recently,
For those of you that get horny about division standings for some reason the Pens and Caps are currently tied for 1st in the division. The both play inferior opponents today at the same time. Sunday is going to be fun regardless.
The trade deadline is Monday so prepare yourselves for that.
